About Albay and its History
InformationAlbay is a Philippines province in the Bicol Region. It is most known for the Mayon Volcano, a nearly flawless active volcano that provides a good scenic background for tourists. Most of the area, in fact, contains breathtaking sceneries of mouontains, fertile plains, and valleys.
Pre-Spanish Times- A thriving civilization
Spanish Colonial Period- Albay was divided into four districts: Iraya, Cordillera, Sorsogon and Catanduanes.
American Period- A civil government was established in Albay on April 26, 1901, but Simeon Ola and a couple of thousand men defied the American regime.
